Lifetime has his day
Day Of A Lifetime got his jumping career off to the best possible start when taking the Frank Conroy Memorial Maiden Hurdle under a typically confident ride by Paul Townend. Gift Of Dgab took it up from the front-running Couleur De La Loi on the approach to the final flight but was stalked all the time by the 100/30 favourite.
Day Of A Lifetime, absent since pulling too hard in the Cheltenham Festival Bumper last March, struck the front on the run-in and kept on well to beat Gift Of Dgab (4/1) by two and a half lengths. Buck Barrow (7/2) was always prominent another five lengths adrift in third, while Serein showed promise staying on in fourth.
Winning trainer Willie Mullins said, “He blew it at Cheltenham but has always shown alot at home. He needs to improve his jumping which was not fast enough. We'll try to get another run into him before Cheltenham but it may not be possible to run him again before the Festival. He'll be entered for both the Supreme Novices and the Neptune.”
Ladbrokes quote Day Of A Lifetime at 20/1 for the Supreme Novices Hurdle, and have also introduced him at 16/1 for the "Neptune".
