The Johnny Levins trained Zippy followed up her recent Tipperary win with a third career success at Dundalk today, landing the Ladbrokes App Handicap under jockey Donagh O’Connor.
The daughter of Hellvelyn was supported when a ‘surprise’ 16/1 winner at Tipperary on June 29 but today was an easy to back 4/1 chance, despite racing from a turf rating which was 1lb below her winning Tipperary mark.
Levins was at Newmarket Sales and after the race, 19 year old O’Connor later said “the plan was to sit back a bit but she jumped out quick and they were not going a great gallop. I wanted to get her relaxed and into a good rhythm, and she stuck at it well.
"Things are going well, and that's my 42nd winner which leaves me just 8 left with a 5lb claim. I have to thank Johnny (Levins) an awful lot as he's given me so many chances."
