Billy Lee completed a double on the evening at Dundalk when successful aboard The Tulip in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden.
The Sonia Rogers home-bred daughter of Lawman made a promising debut here over a mile earlier this year, and showed the benefit of that outing over this longer trip.
The Eddie Lynam-trained filly was weak in the market (2/1 out to 3/1) but led over a furlong out, and was ridden out to beat Kubali by a neck. Lex Talionis was a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.
Lynam said, “I thought that she might do it a bit easier. I like her.
“It’s still fairly early in the season, and we’ll probably bring her back in distance. It’s nice to get the win, and she has a nice pedigree.”
Lee initiated his double aboard the Willie McCreery-trained odds-on chance Dolce Strega in the seven-furlong median auction race.
