Laughing Lashes wins Debutante Stakes
Laughing Lashes lost her maiden tag when winning the Keeneland Debutante Group 2 Stakes for trainer Jessica Harrington.
Fran Berry who took the riding honours was on terms from over two furlongs out and the 5/1 shot responded well to a strong drive to get up and lead inside the final furlong to score by a length.
A delighted Harrington said afterwards: “I’m absolutely delighted with that win. We’ll have to have a conference with the owners as to where to go but where ever we do go we’ll have to supplement her.”
“I know Ruby [Walsh] is keen to go to France.”
“Fran [Berry] was very happy with her, it’s great to have a man on form and Fran is riding out of his skin at the moment.”
“The plan was always to come up the middle and avoid any trouble and she quickened up well for him.”
The syndicate which includes Ritchie Galway of Punchestown racecourse, Gillian Walsh (wife of Ruby) and David Cox husband of HRI's Tamso Doyle are the same syndicate who were successful with Long Lashes last season.
