Supporters of trainer Jim Bolger are in clover at present and the trainer's excellent start to the new flat season continued with Latchet s success in the Base Wood Fired Pizza Handicap at Leopardstown today.
Bolger's five previous winners this new term have been at odds of 20/1, 16/1, 14/1, 25/1, 3/1 while Latchet's 13/2 success (under jockey Kevin Manning) means the Derby winning trainer currently has a level-stakes profit of E67.5 for a one euro stake.
Afterwards Bolger, who is the very early leader in the Trainers Championship, reported “she's (Latchet) been a school mistress for four apprentices and her record isn't too bad.
“Hopefully she can do a bit more before it's all over. She might be able to go a bit further and that will open up more opportunities.”
