The Even money favourite Laganbank ran out a convincing winner of division one of Roscommon Beginners Chase for trainer Willie Mullins with Ruby Walsh in the saddle.
The 6yo son of Norwich was having just his second start over fences this evening having chased home Baily Green on his debut over them last month over the course.
Having raced prominently throughout he hit the front at the seventh fence and made the rest of the running.
He went clear before the second last where he made a mistake but stayed on well from before the last to score easily by nine lengths. Cairdin kept on to take second for Mag Mullins with her son Danny aboard at 2/1 while Queen Of Cool was just a head back in third at 12/1.
Winning rider Ruby Walsh said afterwards: "He was fit and well and I was happy to be handy on him.
"He handles better ground and I’d imagine he will be kept on the go now."
The winning bay gelding was recording his fifth career success this evening after winning two bumpers and two hurdles before.
He in fact beat the subsequent Grade 1 winning hurdler Alderwood in a novice hurdle at Listowel last September.
