Koori Star followed up February's debut point-to-point success when maintaining his unbeaten record today, landing Sligo's RSS Record Storage Service Opportunity Maiden Hurdle for trainer Peter Fahey and jockey Jake Coen.
A debut winner at Tallow, the Alkaadhem-gelding today carried the colours of the Wear The Fox Hat Syndicate and defied his 14/1 price when scoring readily from Break The Boundary
Jockey Coen later said "for a horse that point-to-pointed, he was green and was all over the place on the first lap but the bit of experience stood to him later on. He was very smart over the second-last and over the last.
"I kept nursing away and when we started climbing, he ate the hill! I was only rowing away on him and never pulled my stick until after the last.
"He picked up well and I think he'll be a fine horse especially when he goes up in trip. Over two and a half (miles) plus, hopefully he'll have a nice future."
