Trainer Joe Murphy registered a seventh winner of the opening 15 days of June today at Sligo as his Kodiqueen completed a double on the day for jockey Gary Carroll in the Rosses Point Caravan Park Handicap (div I).
Gyldan's Tipperary win on June 1 began Murphy's run of luck and today's winner Kodiqueen is similarly owned by Ballylinch Stud and scored a 4.25L win over Absolute One Right
Afterwards Joseph Murphy junior stated “she won here as a three-year-old so we were looking for a race that we could bring her back for.
“We were a bit unsure about the flag start, whether with cheekpieces and a tongue-tie, she would jump off on terms. The plan was to be very positive on her and in fairness to Gary, they were going to cut each other’s throats in front and he took a little pull and he followed them around.
"She kind of won the same way here as a three-year-old, so it worked out great. We’ll go for something similar, that’s her grade.”
