- Kingdom is O'Brien's 100th of the season
Kingdom is O'Brien's 100th of the season
The favourite Swing Pattern couldn't overcome the drawback of running off the home turn and hanging a furlong and a half down and Ancient Kingdom was the one to take advantage in the Jimmy Crowley Live After Racing On October 31st Maiden at Cork.
Sean Levey got the Ballydoyle son of Giant's Causeway to the front a furlong out and from there he stayed on well to beat the aforementioned Swing Pattern by half a length. Ancient Kingdom's win was the 100th of the season for Aidan O'Brien.
Levey said: "He is a nice horse but he's had a delayed campaign. He was third to Don Carlos last year, he is not a bad horse, so the form was there.
"He half blew up, just got tired at the Curragh last time and we expected him to come on from that. It is great to see him win."
