Local boy 'done-good' Connor King is on a roll at present and the sixteen year old apprentice jockey completed a double at Cork today, winning the Mallow Apprentice Handicap on the David Marnane trained Almadaa
King has a clear eye for the winning line and again produced Almadaa with perfect timing before recording a three parts of a length win over Doonard Prince
Afterwards Marnane stated “that's Almadaa's first win on grass (has four wins at Dundalk) but he's a horse who shows up every day of the week, is really consistent and has given us great craic over the years.
“He is very genuine and while he is in again in a big pot race at Sligo tomorrow, I'll see how he is tomorrow morning before making a decision on his participation.”
King, from nearby Kilbrin and recording his first double at his local track, had earlier steered Kiss The Stars to win the previous six furlongs handicap.
