Killarney kind to odds-on punters again

There was a second comprehensive success for an odds-on chance in race two at Killarney with Aljunood (2/5) triumphing in the Pitchsupplies.ie Maiden.
Pat Smullen soon had the first-time hooded 81-rated three-year-old in front and he made all to easily beat newcomer Kings Inn by three and a half lengths.
Smullen said on Dermot Weld's charge: "It looked on paper that all he had to do was run his race and he'd win and thankfully that's the way it turned out. I kept it simple, and went a nice even pace.
"He can be a bit anxious and want to get on with it but luckily I didn't get hassled today. He was a bit keen for the first furlong or so and then he came back to me and relaxed lovely into the race.
"To be fair he picked up well at the furlong pole and I knew I had the race well in keeping. I think the ease in the ground was a big help to him.
"If he relaxes he could get a bit further but around a mile is ideal for him."
