John Kiely added to his memorable win with A Dream To Share at the Cheltenham Festival last week when sending out Penny Glory to take the Buy Tickets For The Easter Festival Online Now Mares (Ladies Pro/Am) INH Flat Race at Cork.
The daughter of Fame And Glory was runner-up twice in point-to-points before a promising debut under rules in a bumper here last spring and has since joined the veteran Dungarvan trainer.
The 9/4 chance led early in the straight and stayed on well inside the final furlong under Maxine O’Sullivan to beat Armed And Fabulous by three-and-three-quarter lengths. Step It Out Goldie was a further six and a half lengths adrift in third.
Kiely said, “This is a nice mare and she was well prepared before I got her and had plenty of work done. The bit of age helped her on the ground and she got a lovely ride. Maxine is first class and it makes a big difference.
"I have the mare three months, she has a good line (pedigree) and it all helps. We'll see how she comes out of today's race, and it was quite demanding, before making plans."
