The Edmond Kent trained Star Counsel gained Star Counsel gained a third career win at Tipperary today, winning the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle under a well judged ride from Mark Flanagan.
Flanagan held up the daughter of Overbury in mid-division and in the end produced her to lead on the run-in, before scoring a length and a half win over Garri Rua
Afterwards Kent, enjoying his second winner of the week, stated “she won her bumper here but got a leg last year.
“She made a nice comeback there but didn’t like the ground and I thought she had no chance from a long way out but she came alive when switched to the better ground on the outside. I’ll jump a fence with her now if she’s ok - she has a bumper and two hurdles won now.
“She’s a good honest mare and would never leave you down - it’s hard to come by the likes of her.”
