Kennedy off mark as a pro
Sean Flanagan's pain was Pat Kennedy's gain as he successfully deputised for the Wexford pilot aboard fellow Model County trainer, Liz Doyle's The Hoodoo Remains in the Curran South East Cleaners Handicap Hurdle. For Kennedy this seventeen length win was a first in the paid ranks, the Kerry native having only recently turned professional.
The Hoodoo Remains was fifth here behind Without The Bop yesterday and Sean Flanagan would have taken the mount on him had he not ended up hurting his hand off Betabob (a faller three out) in the opener.
Doyle, who had earlier saddled the disappointing favourite Borolee said of her 10/1 winner: "He is hard to train, when I think he's in good form he runs poor and he ran badly here yesterday. We were going to give up on him if he had run bad again today. Here he didn't come off the bridle at all and I have no explanation for it."
Kennedy rode winners as an amateur, principally for Dessie Hughes.
