Lunastar routed her opposition in fine style in the Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle.
This was her handicap debut and she made lovely progress on the outer to get in the mix racing to the second last.
She showed her inexperience coming to that obstacle as she ran around a bit but once she cleared it Eoin G Kelly got her back onto an even keel.
She readily stormed clear of the pursuers before the last and a good jump there saw her draw right away by 10 lengths at 22/1 having been available at double those odds this morning. Crack On Corrie came in second at 9/1, a length and three parts up on 13/8 favourite Jiving Jerry
“That's my first winner. She's my father's mare and we bought her to get me going,” said Eoin Kelly, who is 18 and from Granard, Co Longford.
“It's a very good buzz and I'm very proud. Hopefully I can keep going forward. I ride out for Paul (Flynn) the whole time.
“I thought the ground might go against her but she travelled away lovely in my hands, jumped very well, and kept going nicely.
“I gave her a kick coming out of the back straight and she kicked away. She had a bit of a wobble coming to the second last but stayed on very well after that.”
