Trainer Gerry Keane credited a favourable draw for some of his Red All Star s success in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Handicap (div 2) at Dundalk this evening as the gelding gained a fourth career success.
Keane's son Colin Keane was Champion Jockey in 2017 and partnered fifth-placed Downtown Diva in the race but being unable to ride at the winner's 8st8lbs, the 'spin' was handed to 5lbs claimer Sean Davis who steered the eight year old to a half length win over Bellick
Trainer Keane later said “he normally gets a bad draw and the draw (2) was probably the key to him tonight.
“If he gets his own way in front it's a big advantage to him; he's a little bit of a rogue, a bit of a character of a horse.
“That's three he's won for us now and he's been second about seven or eight times so he's done his job.
“He's a great fun horse and that's what the boys (Gaeltacht Partnership) have him for, they've got a great stroke out of him.
“He'll probably come back here on Friday night if he's okay and there is a similar six furlong race in a few weeks.
“We'll keep him to five and six, he doesn't seem to get any further and he hates the grass. That's his second win here and he's won on the beach.”
