Keane on the mark with Lynott
Division two of the Connolly’s Red Mills Horse Care Cubes Handicap caused somewhat of a surprise when 20/1 shot Lynott came in front under Davy Moran.
Gerry Keane’s charge took up the lead one furlong from home and the pair kept on strongly to win by a length and a quarter.
A delighted Keane said afterwards: “To be honest I really didn’t want to run him as I thought the ground was too fast but the owner convinced me.”
“He’s had plenty of problems in the past, he disappointed us at Fairyhouse in a hurdle race but we discovered he had a palate problem so he’s had an operation on it and it seems to have done the trick.”
“Hopefully he’ll go on to win again, he’s a nice horse with plenty ability if we can keep him right.”
“We wouldn’t run him on anything faster than it was today as he’s had leg problems in the past.”
