Daylight Katie produced an explosive performance on her hurdling debut at Fairyhouse this afternoon when storming to a 26-length victory.
The smart bumper mare, who had chased home Gypsy Island when last seen at Punchestown in May, was sent to post a 2/5 shot on her hurdling debut.
Davy Russell tracked the leader, Whatsnotoknow in the two-miler before letting his mount stride on into the lead before the second last.
She was soon in control and skipped clear before the last to seal a wide margin success.
“She's good, she's very smart,” said Elliott.
“We weren't sure if we were going to keep her to bumpers or go hurdling. She couldn't actually run until Aintree because she had run in so many bumpers, so we discussed with David during the week and said we'd go hurdling.
“She's very smart and we'll go to Down Royal now for the mares novice.
“She can be a bit of a handful but she's a good mare. I think she could go up to two-and-a-half but at the moment we'll go to Down Royal and see where we go from there.”
