A constructive morning come afternoon got better for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend at Gowran as Annamix landed the Visit Kilkenny.ie Chase.
A third winning owner got on the board via a Closutton horse on this session, as the Susannah and Rich Ricci-owned Annamix beat Spyglass Hill by nine lengths.
Mullins and Townend started the day with success through the McNeill Family’s Youmdor and Cheveley Park Stud’s Ferny Hollow followed up for the local powerhouse operation in the maiden hurdle.
From the front Annamix got two out wrong, but so did Spyglass Hill, and the balance quickly tipped in favour of the successful grey. He ultimately came home at his ease under the champion jockey.
“I think this fellow has improved with age and I don’t mind going up in trip with him either. That might be his optimum trip but I’d prefer to go up in trip rather than come back,” said Mullins.
“He jumped well so hopefully he can improve for the rest of the season.”
Owing to ground conditions, the Stewards granted permission for this race and the remaining chases to be started by flag start
