"Gelding him and the visor has helped. He did well to win from his bad draw," so said Pat Smullen after Johnny Lynch (4s this morning out to 7s) had short-headed Red Queen (11/2 this morning out to 10s) in the Gathering At Tipperary August 22nd Maiden.
Dermot Weld trains the sprinting victor for owner/breeder Mrs Noeleen McCreevy, wife of Charlie.
The gamble of this contest was Paul Deegan's English Deer (at least 100/30 first thing into 15/8) but he could do no better than fourth. (TW & EM)
