Jockey Liam Quinlan completed a double at Clonmel today as he steered the Roger McGrath trained Zinat to win the Killaloan Handicap Hurdle.
The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor was previously successful in a Dundalk flat maiden in January 2017 and while unsuccessful in 20 subsequent starts, today was produced to lead by Quinlan on the run-in when scoring a length and three parts win over Ashton Court
McGrath later stated “she deserved it and got nice summer ground today. We changed tactics today and it was probably our fault all along; she liked it out in front but we said we'd go the opposite today and just dropped her in.
“She might have a go on the flat now as she has a nice rating and if the ground is good we might go for a 1m4f handicap. She'll turn out again fairly soon as she handled her racing well.”
Jockey Quinlan had earlier won on the Mouse Morris trained Nero Rock
