Sam Ewing’s first ride for Michael Halford proved to be a winner as the Copper Beech Stables trainer quickly doubled his polytrack tally this afternoon, courtesy of Orchid Gardens (11/8 favourite) in the Test Your Tipping Talents At PUNTERS.HOLLYWOODBETS.COM Every Dundalk Meeting Maiden.
Victorious thirty five minutes earlier with Shamiyan under Ronan Whelan, Halford here equipped the Wendy O’Leary-owned Orchid Gardens with first-time cheek-pieces.
A consistent sort, Orchid Gardens, a half-sister to a Group One winner in Wizz Kid, got off the mark at the tenth time of asking, beating Mosala by a length and a half.
The successful Muhaarar filly chased the leader in second, and she was pushed along and disputed the lead a furlong and a half out.
Ridden to lead over a furlong out, she stayed on well in the final furlong to confirm the win.
