Jimmy Two Times made all for a snug victory in the beginners' chase at Downpatrick.
Andrew Lynch kept it simple on the 8/15 favourite who bowled along in front and then asserted after the last to post a five-length victory. Rueben James could make no impression in second at 7/1.
Local trainer Brian Hamilton said: "That was an easy opportunity for him, he needs to go right-handed. There aren't many opportunities for him for the next month.
"He may go to Galway, I think there's a race for him there at the end of September. I think if there's a graded race we might look at running there. If it is two miles one (in Galway) it might be a bit short. This race was ideal for him, it was a good place to start off.
"The whole thing backfired a bit at Galway. We ran him in the big handicap there and the way the race was run just didn't suit him. He needs to be there in front dictating it. He got boxed in and couldn't get out.
"He pops away, he is cute to jump. I would love to try and come back to win the Ulster National but he is going to be too highly handicapped for that job.
"He needs to go right-handed so that rules half the place out! He does need a trip. He had plenty left there. If another horse comes to him he'll battle. He won a graded race at Fairyhouse one day. When another horse comes to him he sticks his neck out and tries. He's hard out."
