Jerry From Kerry got a lovely run up the inner turning for home to land the concluding bumper on the card at Ballinrobe tonight.
Front-runner Windbeneathmywings kicked for home going to the top bend in the two-miler and got a few lengths on his rival.
The Emmet Mullins-trained gelding stuck to his task well for John Gleeson though and the 6/4 favourite grabbed the leader over a furlong from home, going on to record a four-length success.
Jerry From Kerry, a Sea Moon gelding, had been sent off an odds-on shot on his debut at Roscommon last month before finishing second to Keep Up.
Mullins said:- “It was a nice performance. It’s been a frustrating time lately and it’s nice to get that winner on the board.
“He could be a nice enough horse and there should be plenty of fun with him next season going over hurdles.
“I don’t think he’s a horse for the middle of the winter, so we’ll see how long the ground lasts.
“He has a good attitude and it’s great that he found and galloped the whole way to the line.”
