The Tom Cooper-trained Dancing Jeremy returned from a lengthy absence to run out an easy winner of the beginners chase at Cork this afternoon.

Bryan Cooper took the mount for his father and the Jeremy gelding moved stylishly up to challenge going to the second last in the two-and-a-half mile contest.

The 7/1 shot was big and bold at the penultimate fence and asserted going to the last.

He didn't need to engage top gear on the run-in to post a cosy three-and-three-quarter length win over Thedancingfarrier

"He is off a long time and I must give credit to Derek O'Connor who did a pile of pre-training with him and I've had him for the last two and a half months and just finished him off really,” said the winning trainer.

"I had him in at Limerick (over Christmas) but I thought the ground could be a bit tougher than here for his first run back and this race suited, so bang on I was.

"He took no blow, was very fit and he had to keep taking him back as he was winging fences. He was like a handicapper in a beginners'.

"We'll keep going now and look for a handicap chase."
