Jedward off the mark
The topically named Jedward opened her account at the second time of asking when running out a cosy winner of the Kells Maiden at Navan.
Fran Berry kept his mount to the centre throughout and she was produced with a strong run inside the final furlong. Nidian had kicked on over a furlong-and-a-half from home but had no answer when Charles O'Brien's filly swooped to record a two-and-a-half length succcess.
"She ran a nice race first time at Gowran but Charles was a little worried today about her having enough experience for a sprint," said Berry.
"I kept straight from her high draw and from halfway she came on the bridle. When she met the rising ground she went on and won nicely. Job done."
