Jamesie proves sprint king
Jamesie swooped late between horses under Colm O'Donoghue to come out best in an exciting finish to the five furlong handicap for three-year-old's.
Easy to back on track at 9/2, the David Marnane-trained gelding collared the always prominent Yellow Dandy (16/1) inside the final furlong to score by a neck. Big Bad Lily (12/1) held every chance finishing a further length adrift in third, while the winner's stablemate Foot Perfect didn't enjoy the clearest of passages close-up in fourth.
Marnane said, “He's a nice horse and I like him a lot. He's been second to some good horses, and we're hoping to go to Newmarket next month for a good handicap. A step up in trip will help as he's not really a five furlong horse. It was a good performance carrying that weight.”
