The Dermot Weld-trained Jaega powered clear in the closing stages to make an impressive winning debut in the opening fillies maiden at Leopardstown this afternoon. Broadway made the running in the ten furlong contest but was joined three furlongs from home by the well-backed 3/1 favourite (15/2 this morning).
Leigh Roche sent his mount on a furlong-and-a-half from home and she soon asserted. The Fastnet Rock filly went on to record a six-and-a-half length success. Samasthiti won the the battle for second, just ahead of Magic Wand
Weld said:- “The ground is very testing but she’s a lovely filly and we’ve always liked her a lot.
“She was very immature last year so I took my time with her. We’ll go for a Stakes race with her next.
“She stays well, has a lot of class and could be a nice filly going a mile and a half.”
