Backed from 8/1 into 10/3 Isaac Wonder landed a gamble in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Nursery Handicap (Plus 10 Race) at Killarney. Ballot Box didn't get a run when she needed it but always to the fore Isaac Wonder (Declan McDonogh up) ran out a good winner, by a length and a half from that opponent.
Winning trainer John Oxx said: "He ran two good races and was looking for a bit of distance. He is quite an unfurnished horse and will improve with time and age and distance.
"Running just over the mile suited him and Declan made plenty use of him and he won well.
"I was a bit worried about the slightly dead ground, he likes good to firm but it's not soft and he was fine on it."
Regarding the winner being backed on track from 8/1 to 100/30, he replied "really - well it wasn't J. Oxx and I think Patricia (Burke) the owner had a tenner on him!
"He is in the Sales at Doncaster in two weeks time so I don't know what will happen. He'll be a nice horse when he matures a bit, on good to firm ground and when he gets a bit of distance. He's a very very sound horse and will win races - it might be for somebody else but he'll win races."
