Iron Major stamps his authority
Iron Major made it two course and distance wins when landing the seven furlong claimer at Dundalk at odds of 6/1.
Padraig Beggy sent the four-year-old gelding on at the furlong pole and the pair kept on well to score by two lengths from Solent Ridge the 100/30 favourite.
Eddie Lynam who owns and trains Iron Major said: “On the ratings Jembatt had to finish in front of him by two or three lengths but he likes it round here and some of the others are maybe rated a bit high.
“The owner could do with a few quid so I’ll take it!”
Speaking about the extra claiming races to be held at Dundalk between November and March whereby horses can be claimed at a fixed price Lynam commented: “I think the idea is a good one and I think there should be more of these races.” Maundy Money finished third at 12/1 having been 5/1 in the morning.
