Irish can’t manage Tiddliwinks

Tiddliwinks left the favourite Hoof It and co behind when winning as a 25/1 chance at York 10 days ago and the six-year-old followed up on that in the Group 3 Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes under Pat Smullen at the Curragh.
Smullen donned the famous Guy Reed silks (also bred Tiddliwinks) on the Piccolo gelding who reared leaving the stalls and found himself towards the rear.
However the 8/1 chance got into it in the final quarter mile, eventually leading inside the final furlong on his way to beating fellow English raider Jimmy Styles by half a length.
The gambled-on Fire Lily faded into sixth place.
Winning trainer Kevin Ryan wasn't at the Curragh, busy supervising his many runners in Britain today. (GC & EM)
