Irish Poseidon completes hat-trick in tremendous style

Irish Poseidon has proved a revelation since joining Matthew Smith this autumn and completed a hat-trick at Dundalk in runaway fashion in division one of the Join Us On Instagram @dundalk_stadium Handicap.
All three wins have been gained over this mile and a half trip, and the four-year-old gelding made light of a 6lb penalty for scoring here last Friday.
Sam Ewing has been in the saddle for all those wins and the talented 7lb claimer elected to challenge on the outer in the straight.
The 9/4 favourite was in front over a furlong out and stretched right away to beat Belgoprince by a very easy six lengths, with Storm Steps a length and a half back in third.
Ewing said, "We were drawn 16 so we thought we'd better give him a chance. He travelled around lovely and did it well in the end.”
The winner was reluctant to leave the shoot going out of the parade ring and Ewing added, “That's just one of his quirks but once you get him going he's a lovely horse. Hopefully he can win a few more.”
