Inventor made all from stall one to land the extended five furlong handicap in Sligo for three-year-olds plus rated 47-65. Hands Down planted herself when the gates opened and, when she did consent to race, she was completely tailed off.
Inventor was swiftly into stride for jockeys' title race leader Billy Lee and had the pursuers off the bridle approaching the final furlong.
The leader was ridden by Lee in the final furlong and he maintained the gallop to score by a length to reward favourite backers who took the 9/5. Celtic Manor hit the line second at 9/4 and was the same distance in front of Talking Tough (13/2).
Lee did the steering for his sister Gillian Scott who said: “He’s been running really well and we’ve got a bit of consistency into him this season.
“Last year he won on yielding ground and we were a bit worried about running him on quicker ground and were minding him a bit.
“This year we just said we’d keep him going and see how we get on. He’s really enjoying his racing. He was very sharp from the gates and Bill gave him an excellent ride, he’s riding brilliant this year.
“The last day at Limerick was maybe a tiny bit too far for him but he gets this trip well.”
