Kodi Red goes clear

Adrian Murray saddled his third winner in the last four days when Kodi Red (5/2) showed speed throughout to win the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden.
Billy Lee ’s mount broke smartly from the outside stall and was soon in front. Lee let his mount edge across towards the far side as 11/10 favourite Reinforce did his bets to keep tabs on the leader.
The latter had no more to offer at the furlong pole as the winner asserted and it was Wild Rover who came through to take the runner-up berth.
Kodi Red, beaten only a little over four lengths in stakes company on his previous start, won by two and three quarter lengths and was breaking his maiden at the fourth time of asking.
Shock Fairyhouse winner Kodi Bear and Sargent Lightfoot at his local track of Kilbeggan also hit the target this week for Murray.
Lee commented: "Obviously, it was his fourth run and he had a very good run in a Listed race against a different level of opposition.
"Today was a bit easier. It was a step up in trip and he travelled easily, and when the favourite (Reinforce) joined me halfway he didn't panic. He kept his rhythm when I got out of the dip and met the rising ground; I sent him on to win the race and he picked up well and galloped out well.
"He wasn't (out of place in the Listed race) and it sharpened him up. He's probably learning on the job and he is improving."
