Kristian Goingwel gained wins in consecutive months at Punchestown today as the Oliver McKiernan trained gelding landed the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase under jockey Barry Browne.
The son of Beneficial registered a first career win at the 16th attempt at Down Royal in December and while beaten into second at Limerick over Christmas, today returned to winning ways when holding the late challenge of Goulane Jessie by a half-length.
McKiernan wasn't present and afterwards jockey Barry Browne stated “they crawled early and I had to ride him handier than ideal. Turning into the straight I thought it was going to turn into a bit of sprint so I sent him on.
“He started pulling himself up in front but when the horse came to him he went on again.
“He was a bit of a slow learner. Hopefully he’s starting to get a bit of confidence now after a couple of wins.”
