In foal Furiosa gained an all important win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden at Gowran Park this afternoon.
Ken Condon 's charge, who had been runner-up on her last outing at Cork, went one better for her owner-breeders, the Cullen family, when producing a game front-running performance in the extended nine-furlong contest.
The 11/4 shot was pressed by 2/1 favourite Two For Tea down the straight but responded gamely for Shane Foley to hold that rival at bay by a neck.
“She's been knocking on the door. Her one poor run, I suppose, was at Cork the first day but you'd forgive her as it was very heavy ground,” said Condon.
“I thought the ground might come against her today but Shane said she got it easy enough in front. She had the form in the book to win one of these and it's great to get it done.
“She didn't do much wrong today and she handles better ground as well. She has options going forward.
“The owners are delighted and it's nice to see people getting a thrill out of winning. She's a home-bred and it's important to them.
“She's actually in foal to Ruler Of The World. She'll probably have one or two more races and then go to the paddocks. If she does no more it's job done.”
