Impulsar (5/2) won well off the front in the concluding extended 10 furlong maiden in Dundalk.
He had most of the field in trouble at the two pole when ridden by Shane Crosse. The Frankel gelding wandered approaching the final furlong and opened the door to Stay Thinking who stayed on along the far rail.
Impulsar was driven out and found extra to hit the line two and a half lengths clear of 11/10 favourite Glinting who kept on without threatening. Stay Thinking (33/1) dropped a length and a quarter back to third.
Crosse said: “He’s a monster of a horse. He got a bit dazzled first time out in a big field at the Curragh. He finished out okay but today he broke smart and I was keen to let him bowl.
“He’s done it well and will improve again from that.”
This gave Joseph O'Brien a double as Baronial Pride took the apprentice handicap on the card.
Impulsar is owned and bred by John Camilleri, best known as the breeder of Winx.
