Kitten Rock followed up on his easy win at Naas last month as he ran out an impressive winner of the feature at Limerick this afternoon the Listed Irish Independent Hurdle, scoring under Mark Walsh for trainer Edward O'Grady.
Having his first start for owner JP McManus the French bred son of Laverock raced in third in the early stages before improving into second with a circuit to race.
He hit the front at the fifth last and was ridden to assert from two out, staying on well from there to win by fourteen lengths. Max Dynamite (13/8 to 11/8 on-course) finished second under Danny Mullins for his uncle Willie while Gerdago was a length and a quarter back in third.
Edward O'Grady said afterwards: "He still has the suffix CBA, in that he could be anything!
"He hit the front sooner than he would have wanted but did so because he is such a good jumper.
"I think he'll be a Grade 1 horse over fences and I'm hoping he might do the same over hurdles before then.
"I'll speak to his new owner (J.P. McManus) and see what he wants to do. His Cheltenham plans depend on what he does beforehand and there are lots of races here for him but he won't run in a Grade 1 hurdle before Cheltenham."
