Cara Susanna lunged late to land a important winning bracket in the second division of the mile-and-a-half handicap at Dundalk.

The Dermot Weld-trained daughter of Tamayuz is out of Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Irresistible Jewel and is a half-sister another Ribblesdale winner, Princess Highway, as well as Irish Leger winner Royal Diamond.

She went to post a 10/1 shot tonight on her seventh start and was given a strong drive by Chris Hayes, getting on top in the closing stages for a three-parts-of-a-length win over Brave Thought

Hayes said: "That was vitally important.

"We fancied her here the last day and I don't know what got into her, she reared up and hit me in the face coming out of the gates and got left. I thought if you took into account how far she got left and how far she got beat, it was a good, solid run.

"The boss did a lot of work with her this week, so it is nice to get rewarded for it.

"She has a fabulous pedigree and it is very important for Eva (Maria Bucher-Haefner) and Moyglare.

"Look at the size of her, I thought she would have won last year. She is probably only filling into her frame now.

"She is going to be going to the covering shed but, when she is in the form she is in, we might go again."
