The Aengus King trained Capture The Drama made use of a chase rating fully 44lbs below his hurdles mark when winning the August Racing Festival 11th-14th Handicap Chase at Tramore today.
The son of Dushyantor was a shock 100/1 winner of his maiden hurdle at Gowran in March and today made all to score under capable claimer Andrew Ring.
Afterwards King stated “he is in better shape since we done the soft palate (operation) on him before the race in Gowran.
“We were running him over three miles, but maybe this is his ultimate distance.
“Hopefully he'll win a couple more of those and it's hard to find a race of this calibre! It will depend on the ground where he goes next as he wants it a bit softer. “
Regarding the horse’s late arrival and no-show in the parade ring for the start of the race, King added “we had a problem with the tack before the race, and he can be a bit hyper when you bring the saddle down, so we were delayed."
