Henry de Bromhead doubled his score at Tramore when the first-time blinkered Oryx Hustler landed some bets in the Copper Coast Maiden Hurdle
A fourth winner here on this two day meet for the record breaking handler, Oryx Hustler was supported in from at least 12/1 last night, and from 7/1 into 9/2 ‘on the show.’
Successful jockey Hugh Morgan was asking for more from a fair way out on the Shirocco gelding, and in fairness to the five-year-old he kept finding for the Kilkenny native to see off the mares, Mis Clogher and Some Venture by two and three parts of a length and half a length.
"I'm delighted with that. A bunch of lads (MiddleEastenders Syndicate) from all over the world own him and they have been very patient with him,” said de Bromhead.
“He has been really frustrating but his owners have stuck with us and I'm delighted for them. The blinkers today have helped him and Hugh was brilliant on him, he rode him to the letter.
"We have plenty of good riders at home and Emma Twomey, Mikey O'Connor, Daniel Holden, Dylan Robinson and Hugh will all be getting opportunities over the next few weeks with this new system. It's great for them to get the opportunities."
The de Bromhead brace was initiated by the Rachael Blackmore-partnered Tisadream in the opener.
P.T. Enright, rider of Over Milk Wood (GB) trained by Olivia Hegarty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
The Stewards interviewed H. Morgan, rider of Oryx Hustler, trained by Henry de Bromhead, concerning the use of his whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that H. Morgan was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (g)(frequency) and having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended him for 2 racedays.
