The Sandra Hughes trained Sports Barrow caused a 33/1 upset to win the opening Go Racing In Kildare 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle on his jumps debut at Punchestown today
Ridden by Roger Loughran the twice Flat raced son of Windsor Knot improved to lead on the home turn and from there maintained his gallop for a seven and a half lengths win over Vocal Heir
Afterwards Hughes stated "he's a lovely horse but that ground is as quick as he'd want and would appreciate a dig in it.
"He didn't jump that well but I'd say that was down to the ground; he was bought to be a three-year-old hurdler."
