Hughes and McCarthy strike at Galway
The Tara Towers Hotel Handicap Hurdle was won by Ian McCarthy aboard Laura's Light trained by Dessie Hughes and owned by Fred Kenny.
Ian McCarthy was riding his first winner at his local track. McCarthy works for Dessie Hughes and is enjoying a good season.
Hughes said afterwards, 'He is a lazy horse and Ian was at work on him from a long way out. He loves the stiff uphill track.'
