Howard celebrates return to winners enclosure
Danny Howard was understandably delighted as he partnered his first winner since March 2008 when Archie Meade claimed the 2m6f maiden hurdle at Thurles.
Malachy Hassett's charge was produced with a well-timed run to claim Jack Bene after the second last.
The 4/1 winner was a bit untidy at the final flight but had plenty left as he gained a two-and-a-quarter length success.
Howard, who trained the horse to win a point-to-point, saluted the crowd as his mount passed the post.
"He had a good run at Punchestown last time," said Hassett afterwards.
"He won his point-to-point by 15 lengths. We'll play it by ear with him."
