The Jim Bolger-trained Open House pegged back Schubert to make a winning debut in the mile maiden at Navan this afternoon.
2/1 favourite Schubert made the running and looked to have his rivals in trouble after building up a healthy advantage at halfway.
He started to come back to the field passing the two pole however and Open House stayed on to grab the lead just inside the final furlong.
Kevin Manning 's mount, sent off an 11/4 shot, kept on well in the closing stages to record a length-and-three-quarter success on his racecourse bow.
The winner is a half-brother to the useful Leitir Mor, who won at Group 3 level twice and was Group 1 placed.
"He's a nice big horse and has been working well at home. I just thought, maybe with experience horses, first time out in a big field of runners it might just catch him out.
“They went a good gallop and I was able to get into a good position. He's done it well.
“He has a good attitude and is a nice laid-back relaxed horse. He ticks plenty of boxes.
"I think he will come on plenty from that. He has plenty of pace but could also step up in trip."
