Honeymooning Cromwell gets Dundalk present
He has been with Mick Channon and Tony Martin in the past but it has been Gavin Cromwell for whom Five Two has won most races, the seven-year-old gaining his second success for the Navan handler with a surprise 16/1 win in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap.
Well-backed favourite Sports Casual travelled like a dream into the straight and she looked like she'd hold off all challengers when driven on about her business from over a furlong out by Pat Smullen. However Seamie Heffernan had other ideas and he galvanised Five Two into full stride just in time to prevail by a short head.
Heffernan said: "I thought I'd got there, I was finishing fast."
Cromwell missed the success as he is currently on honeymoon in America having got married a couple of weeks back.
The result was another success for the bookmakers following the win of 20/1 shot Mutahadee in the first.
