Hodd’s Girl recorded a sixth career win, all bar one at this venue, when finishing strongly to land Bet On The Best Night Out At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
The five-year-old grey mare has really progressed since joining Ado McGuinness this summer and this was her third win since August. Tai Sing Yeh and Ampeson looked set to fight out the finish a furlong out but the 5/1 chance really got motoring on the outer under Adam Caffrey to eventually score by a length and a quarter.
Ampeson just edged out Tai Sing Yeh for the runner-up spot.
McGuinness said, "He gave her a great ride, he was really patient on her and took his time. She was drawn badly and I just said 'slot in and take your time' and that's exactly what he did.
"They went good and quick and it played into her strengths, but she picked up and got to them.
"She is improving - how much more she is going to improve I don't know, we will just keep going until Garry (O'Gorman, handicapper) gets her!"
