Conor Hoban gave Certerach a strong drive to land the spoils in the ten furlong handicap at Dundalk.
The Halling gelding was produced with a surge inside the final furlong to collar Super Say
He kept that rival at bay close home to record a half-length success in the colours of Paul Rooney.
The Mick Halford-trained gelding was well-backed, from 8/1 in the morning into 9/2 favourite on course, to record his first success since landing a Clonmel maiden last year.
"Conor gave him a good ride and the 5lb was a big help," said Halford.
"He's a decent horse and versatile trip wise as he ran well over 1m6f last time. He's a lovely genuine horse and he had a lovely draw tonight.
"We'll see what the handicapper does. There might be a race back here for him next month.
"If he goes up enough in the handicap he could go to the Dubai Carnival. He'll love the sun on his back."
