History too strong in Clonmel opener
Echoes Of History made all for a convincing success in the opening All Ireland Hurling Weekend Maiden at Clonmel.
David Wachman 's colt was sent off the 8/13 favourite and the result never looked in doubt.
Wayne Lordan asked his mount to quicken clear of his rivals from the two furlong pole and went on for a seven-length success over Ideal Match
"He was due a win. I thought he'd win the last day at Dundalk but he ground was slow and he wants it fast," said Wachman.
"A few horses ran disappointingly that day. I wasn't there myself but everybody was saying the same about the ground. We'll find a handicap somewhere for him."
