Hidden Lite looked a useful mare when landing the concluding Kilkenny (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race on her debut at Gowran under Jane Mangan. This was a popular local success as the Milan filly is bred and part-owned by Charlie Farrell and his wife Elizabeth (from Clashwilliam) and she races in the Travino colours of course director John Kilroy.
Mangan was full of confidence in Hidden Lite and once she asked for more from a quarter of a mile out, the four-year-old stretched on to beat Honourable Lady by four and three parts of a length. They left Raise Hell all of thirty three lengths back in third whilst the well-backed favourite Lady Temptress (at least 7/2 this morning into 15/8) was free, she weakened five furlongs out and trailed home in last.
Eddie Hales trains Hidden Lite and he said: "I used to work with Charlie in England and it's great for them as they still have the dam (Nitelite) at home.
"I think this one is a black-type sort and I'm not surprised she won today. I'm not sure what they'll want to do with her now.
"That's Jane's first ride for me. I've known her since she was small, she's brilliant and of course she's bred to be good!" (DM & EM)
